Flashcards keeps your decks on your phone.
Nothing you write ever leaves your device. There is no account, no sign-up, no cloud, and no server of ours anywhere. Your decks are not uploaded, not analysed, and not used to train anything. We cannot read them and we could not hand them to anyone if we were asked, because we never receive them.
That is worth stating plainly, because a deck is often more personal than it looks: the vocabulary you are struggling with, the exam you are preparing for, the names and terms from a job you have not started yet. All of it stays in this app’s own storage.
The only data that leaves your device is what Google AdMob needs to show ads, and no card of yours is ever part of that.

We hold no copy of any of it. There is no analytics SDK in this app, no crash reporter of our own, and no telemetry. None of your text is transmitted anywhere, and none of it is used for advertising.
The app opts out of Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, so your decks are not copied into Google’s backup service either.
Consequence, stated honestly: because the decks exist only on your phone, we cannot recover them if you lose the device, and uninstalling the app deletes every deck permanently. Use the CSV export for anything you cannot afford to lose.
The app can export a deck to a .csv file and import cards from one. Both go
through Android’s own file picker (the Storage Access Framework): you choose
the file to read or the place to write, Android grants the app access to that
one file, and nothing passes through us.
Because of that the app requests no storage permission at all. It cannot see your other files, and it cannot write anywhere you have not pointed it at.
An export is a plain text file of your own card text. Where you put it — a folder on the device, a cloud drive, an email to yourself — is your choice, and once it is there it is governed by whatever you sent it to, not by this policy.
The app is supported by ads served by Google AdMob. Ads are the only reason the app needs an internet connection at all; making decks, importing, exporting, searching and studying all work fully offline.
The app shows no banner ads, no native ads and no ads on launch, and — the part that matters most in an app like this — it never shows an ad during a study session. A full-screen ad between a card and its answer would break the one moment the app exists for, so the study screen cannot show one at all. What the app shows is an occasional full-screen ad after a session has been finished and you are back at your decks, and an optional rewarded ad you can choose to watch to switch ads off for 24 hours.
To serve ads, Google receives data from your device, which may include your
device’s advertising identifier (AD_ID), coarse location inferred from your IP
address, device and app information, and ad-interaction data. It does not
receive your decks, your cards, your search terms or your review history — the
app never sends those anywhere. Google’s processing is done as an independent
controller under its own policies:
Where required by law, the app shows Google’s User Messaging Platform consent form before ads are initialised, and records your choice. In the EEA and the UK you are asked about personalised advertising; in covered US states you are offered the opt-out required there. You can change your decision at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options, and if you decline, every study feature continues to work exactly as before.
None. We operate no servers, no accounts and no analytics. We have no database with your name in it and no way to identify you or your device. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK merges a few more into the final app package — the Android Ad Services permissions, and the wake-lock and foreground-service permissions its background worker declares — so the list Google Play shows you is slightly longer than the two above. None of them is a permission Android stops to ask you about, and none of them is used by anything we wrote.
What the app does not request, at all: no storage permission, no camera, no microphone, no contacts, no location, and no notifications.
This app is not directed at children and is intended for users aged 13 and over. It ships no bundled decks and no child-directed content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — as described above, we hold no personal data at all.
If we change this policy we will update the Last updated date above and publish the new version at this URL. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes on Google Play. This policy is versioned publicly in the Dash Fusion privacy repository, so any change is visible in its history.
